Supporting Waxman Group
to achieve new standards of H&S compliance and efficiency

Based in West Yorkshire, Waxman Group is a third-generation family business with over 50 years in the distribution industry. It is one of the leading global suppliers of flame-retardant fibres used primarily in protective clothing.

Challenge

Waxman required a telematics system that could be implemented across a diverse fleet comprising multiple types of equipment from multiple manufacturers, across multiple locations.

The system needed to provide remote portal access that could be customised for individual sites. Custom criteria included the ability to identify operators, restrict access to trained operators only, make operational checks paperless, provide detailed reports highlighting operator/MHE utilisation, and generate detailed impact reports.

An earlier version of Abbey’s IQ360 system had been installed on 6 forklifts supplied by a single manufacturer on a single site, and there was an appetite to explore the potential to extend this system.

Solution

Abbey fitted the updated system onto Waxman’s remaining 19 vehicles and upgraded the original 6.

Result

Drivers were restricted to vehicles they had been trained on, critical information became transparent and available, and pre-operational checks became paperless.

The system reported the real-time status of vehicles and driver performance, providing alerts highlighting impacts and failed pre-operational checks.

Our initial experience with this telematics system gave us the confidence to partner with Abbey to implement it on an additional nineteen forklifts from multiple manufacturers. It has provided our fleet manager with total control of fleet operations on these vehicles, helping us to achieve new standards of health and safety compliance and efficiency. The level of service delivered by Abbey has been outstanding. Abbey’s team continues to support us as we customise their IQ360 web portal to enhance our operational needs. We plan to retrofit the system on new equipment in the future.
